Description
Cramp bark (Viburnum opulus) is the bark of the European cranberrybush, a viburnum long respected in both European and North American practice. As its name suggests, it was traditionally used to support comfort during menstrual cramping, a relaxed feeling in tense muscles, and ease in the lower abdomen. The bark is woody and slightly bitter; simmer it as a decoction for 15 to 20 minutes and blend with ginger or cinnamon to warm the flavour. Traditional uses reflect historical practice and are not proven clinical effects. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have a medical condition, consult a qualified healthcare professional before use.
