Description
Slippery elm inner bark (Ulmus rubra) is the soft inner bark of the North American slippery elm, named for the silky mucilage it releases in water. It is one of herbal practice’s defining demulcents, traditionally used to support a soothed throat, comfortable digestion, and a calm gastrointestinal tract. Stir it into warm water for a traditional gruel, or blend it into teas, where it lends body and softness. The flavour is mild, slightly sweet, and wholesome. Traditional uses reflect historical practice and are not proven clinical effects. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have a medical condition, consult a qualified healthcare professional before use.
